Well, we teased you for a little while as we were waiting for the production moulds to be completed, but now at last you can get ahold of your very own Lergy the Lerker figurines!

Sculpted by the Polish Scalpel-Wizard himself, Mr Wojtek Flis, Lergy has been brought to life with the help of historical miniatures company Warlord Games. There are four different miniatures available – the command set, which you can buy from the Merchandise section right here on the website, and the subscription-only miniature which all of our subscribers will receive for free with their printed copy of Issue 10 next month (if you subscribe after this, not to worry, we’ll send you one with your first mag!).

Unseen Lerker Issue X – frivolous, free, and full of awesome!

Like an acrobat penguin fired from a cannon, the latest Unseen Lerker will strike you with a simple, direct, black and white truth: your life has been missing this publication.

For the first time ever Unseen Lerker ventures into the digital universe with Issue X – a special edition of the magazine released ONLY online, and completely free. A bit of a present, if you like, from the Lerker team to the rest of the world.

But what is Unseen Lerker, we hear you ask? Why, it’s the leading independent fantasy wargaming magazine on the market, don’t you know. Packed to the brim with quality content written by veteran gamers, seasoned hobbyists and certified Labradors, a sexy layout and just the right amount of offbeat humour to hit your funny bone, it’s probably worth a read. Our blind test audience highly approved, at least. A recent study also showed that not a single subscriber to Unseen Lerker had ever been attacked by a pack of wild baboons, so that’s definitely a factor to consider – after all, your health is important.

But enough jabbering, you probably want to know what’s inside Issue X!

-	Lergy the Lerker models unveiled! The magazine’s official, purple, furry mascot has just been turned into four unique miniatures for everyone to enjoy. They aren’t available yet, but in this issue we chat to the team behind bringing Lergy to life including the original concept artist, the sculptor, and the main who painted our display models.

-	Event Coverage of Tempest IV: Redemption. The latest in the series of tournaments run by the Unseen Lerker team right here in the UK, Tempest is the kind of event renowned for its fun and friendly atmosphere, buxom bar wenches, and giving away a bloody great sword as first prize!

-	Army Showcase. Do you like dags? No? How about Lizardmen? Yes, that’s better. Christopher Bell’s spangly yellow Lizardmen simply couldn’t be ignored, since we could make out their iridescent glow even from across the Atlantic Ocean. In his interview Chris also chats to us about why Saurus are bad, m’kay, and how he always secretly wanted to be a ninja.

-	And our main feature, what we humbly claim to be the BEST LOOKING BATTLE REPORT EVER PUBLISHED ON THE INTERNET. Yep, you read that right. With a turn-by-turn battlefield overview, before and after commentary from the two veteran players, a funky scenario, two solid army lists and more desert-themed terrain than you can shake a cactus at, you may at first think that this Tomb Kings vs Chaos game report is a mirage.

Issue X is a special release and available for everyone to view right here on the Unseen Lerker website – just click on the image below to start reading! It even comes in a very funky online page-flippy format thanks to the nice people at Issuu.

Or if you prefer you can also download the PDF version and save it for later.

That’s all from us for now! Please direct any questions or comments to editor@unseenlerker.com

Check it out now, for I believe you will find the funk to be quite brother. Oh yes.

Lergy the Lerker has landed – for the first time ever in miniature form! Have a look at the plethora of pictures below and see what you think! There will be a command group set of 3 models available for purchase in the very near future, while the fourth figure, in classic Lergy pose, will be a special subscription-only miniature for all you lovely Lerkerites out there.

The models have been created in conjuction with historical miniatures leviathan Warlord Games (www.warlordgames.co.uk), and sculpted by their most talented scalpel-jockey Mr Wojtek Flis. The painting has been done by Yorkshire pipe- and wargames-enthusiast Mr Rob Ing, who assures us that the blood of Picasso runs in his veins. In the upcoming Issue X edition of Unseen Lerker there is a 6-page article detailing the process of conceptualising Lergy, to creating the miniature and then a guide to painting him, so be sure to catch that when it’s released!

You’ll only be able to get ahold of these special minis through the Unseen Lerker and Warlord Games websites, and they’ll be available for pre-order very soon!

(click on the pictures to make them MEGA)

“I say, chap, that’s rather orc-tastic.”

The latest issue of Unseen Lerker comes straight from the wyvern’s mouth, to bring you another action packed read. Contained within the independent fantasy wargaming magazine recently described as “comparable in success and style to Twilight, but actually good”, you will find:

- Making Orcy Terrain: For our hobby section this issue we asked the inpronounceable David Jakowyszyn (pronounced “Fitzsimmons”) to knock us up some funky Greenskin terrain, and he did not disappoint! He was even nice enough to write a little article about how he did it – terribly sporting, wot.

- In Da House: Ever been playing a game of Warhammer and thought “that just doesn’t look right”? Veteran gamer and hobbyist Mr Andrew Chesney takes a closer look at some of the sillier things in our fair hobby and suggests some house rules with which to alleviate your pains at their ridiculousness.

- Battle Report: it’s Greenskins vs Greenskins in this issue’s Greenskins special (funny that), and we get Ben Johnson and Steve Wren, two regular players and former Best Army winners on the UK tournament scene to come along and embarass themselves in print. This battle’s got it all – manic magic, splatted spiders, colossal combats, and really, really good looking reporters (who also happen to write these press releases, but aren’t biased in any way).

- The Army Doctor: have a read as UKGT winner Michael Biggs takes on reader-submitted challenges on how to make certain army builds works. This issue the Doctor gives the Wood Elves a full physical as he experiments to see what the least bristly path to victory is. Will an autopsy be required? Read on to find out.

- The Test Dummies: you know there’s those two geeks down at the gaming club who always play the ‘weird’ board games? Yeah, well they work for us. This issue Dan and Greg review the Space Hulk: Death Angel card game. Hilarity does not ensue.

For more details on how to subscribe just go to www.unseenlerker.com/subscribe

You can also purchase single issues via our website. For international customers (that is to say, dirty Yanks and filthy Aussies) we recommend grabbing your copy from Maelstrom Games since they can offer you a better deal on postage than we can. The sods!

If you have any questions about the magazine or queries about an existing subscription, please drop us a line at editor@unseenlerker.com

We hope you enjoy the latest issue! Don’t forget you can always check out a 10-page preview to see what’s in store – RIGHT HERE!

This issue the Doctor’s challenge is to create a High Elf army featuring a dragon that can take on the dreaded Skaven.
Despite the powers of fate conspiring to overthrow the world-famous publication (through cunning use of extensive floods, lashing rainstorms, abducted contributors and an undeniably unhinged editor), premier fantasy wargaming magazine Unseen Lerker is back in stride with its best issue ever.

Open the pages and what will you find? Well, let me tell you…

- Dastardly Dragons. Australian wargaming vaudevillian Chris Cousens may be obnoxious and ginger, but he knows a thing or two about using big flying beasties in Warhammer. Using witticisms, metaphors and maybe even a diagram or two, Chris explores whether or not there is still just cause to use dragons in the game’s latest incarnation.

- Wayne’s World. Your one stop hobby chop shop – avid converter and modeller Wayne Kemp, of Heelanhammer podcast fame, takes us through a step-by-step guide of how he went about his latest project: creating a voracious Beast of Nurgle using an infamous boxed set as a basis…

- Banebeasts spotlight. In case you’ve been living under a very secure reinforced rock, you will have heard of Maelstrom Games’s latest range of fantabulous figures. In this interview we tie up and torture some info out of Tim Fisher, one of the project’s head honchos. Also, lots of pretty pictures and an exclusive sneak peek at their upcoming releases.

- Army Showcase: Mark Wildman’s Beastmen. After they won the Players’ Choice Best Army award at the Unseen Lerker GT, we really couldn’t get away with NOT featuring this gorgeous army. Included is an interview with the “artiste” himself where Mark divulges some of his painting techniques, talks about his dogs (don’t ask) and lets out his big secret about resin bases…

- Mega Report. There’s really no other way to describe the latter half of the issue except More Awesome Than Pie (and let’s face it, pie is pretty awesome). In this segment Bobo talks about building a scenic gaming board, a very special scenario is written, and an uber battle report is played recreating the clash at the Isle of the Dead from the background story of the High Elves – featuring a humongous dragon, the Sword of Khaine, and no less than FOUR greater daemons! The players involved are Paul Scott, of former White Dwarf/Tale of Four Gamers fame, and Michael Biggs, previous winner of the UKGT Final and current ETC Captain of Team England. Not a report to be missed!

On top of this are all the usual features, including Lergy the Lerker comic strip, prizes to be won (including Maelstrom’s latest Banebeast, the fearsome Chimaera!), the Test Dummies’ review of Civilisation: the Board Game, and some fantastic new artwork created by a pair of illustrators who have just come on board.

To order, simply go to www.unseenlerker.com/subscribe

Any questions should be emailed to editor@unseenlerker.com

Also, if you live abroad and are interested in buying a single issue of the magazine, don’t forget to check out Maelstrom Games since they can offer you free postage on the magazine. As always, you can check out a 10-page sample of the magazine HERE to find out just how awesome it is.

Times are a-changing…

Just wanted to let everyone know that we recently received word from our printers in Venice that starting next month they will be changing their currency from the Euro to the humble British Pounds Sterling. Seeing as we’ll be paying them in pounds, paying all our postage in pounds, and buying all of our prizes in pounds, it probably makes good sense for us to follow suit and switch our subscriptions to GBP as well! Don’t worry though, as this won’t actually increase the price of your favourite independent fantasy wargaming magazine. It will only make it more British (which, the British assure us between quaffing litres of tea and complaining about the weather, is definitely a good thing).

Issue 7 delayed due to Australian Mega Floods

Dear Lerkerites.

As we’re sure you’ve heard, all of the kangaroos in Australia are currently treading water due to the torrential rain storms lashing the country. On average the east coast has been receiving half a metre of rain every day, and 30 suburbs of Brisbane, the largest city, have been evacuated.

What this means for us is a slight delay on the release of issue 7, since Heath, our graphic designer, lives in Brisbane and was last seen in scuba gear proclaiming he was going to go and fetch some biscuits from the kitchen. Highly trained chimpanzee technicians are currently trying to restore power to his magazine operation station, but our projected estimate is that our fine, handsome readers won’t have issue 7 in their hands until early February. We apologise for the delay, and hope you’re looking forward to the next issue – it’s a good’un!

Regards,

The Unseen Lerker Team

Mantic Army Giveaway – only 3 days to go!

Hear ye, hear ye! We here at the Unseen Lerker office have been having a darn hard time seeing straight lately – the world seems awfully, blindingly bright these past weeks. Seeing as we’re located in Nottingham, England, it certainly can’t be sunlight afflicting our vision, so what’s up? Aha! There! It’s the ultra-shiny properties of the Big Prize Load we’ve currently got sitting in our office.

In case you hadn’t heard, we’re currently giving away a brand new fantasy wargaming army. No, your eyes haven’t gone too, you did read that right.

In our most recent battle report, in issue 6, we featured the models from rising star company Mantic Games in a clash of Dwarfs vs Undead. After the game, we managed to use our patented Jedi Mind Tricks to convince the chaps at Mantic to let us give away a brand new version of one of the armies used in the report!

Anyone can enter the draw – it’s easy. There are three ways to get entered into the competition:
1) Subscribe to the magazine, at www.unseenlerker.com/subscribe
2) Renew your existing subscription via the same link
3) Get a friend to subscribe (you’ll both be entered into the draw)! Just be sure to drop us an email and let us know your names.

For all the juicy details, including seeing what’s up for grabs, GO HERE. As Morty Finkle and all good Nike salesmen would say: “Do it. Just do it.”

We’ll be drawing the winner on Saturday the 15th of January and announcing the result both here on the website and in Unseen Lerker issue 7, due out at the end of the month.

Well, it’s that time again. The premier independent fantasy gaming magazine continues its run of ambling shenanigans and outrageous fashion advice (seal fur is soooo in this season) with its October—November edition.

Still at 56 pages of full-colour, eye-melting goodness, the latest issue contains:

- Wayne’s World: a brand new series of hobby articles written by Wayne Kemp of Heelanhammer podcasting fame. This issue he provides his unique take on building a Rat Ogre Bonebreaker from an all manner of bits and pieces, using a plastic River Troll as a basis.

- A Legend Never Dies: it may sound like the title for a James Bond film, but it’s actually a coverage of the recently held Giant Fanatic tournament, wonderfully written by our Danish agent in the field, Jimmi Stender. GF is one of the premier events in Europe and Jimmi gives us all the hot gossip on what went down, who did what, and what colour the carpet was (just kidding – there was no carpet). Also included is an interview with one of the organisers, a familiar face, about the merits of a newly conceived Line of Sight system that was used.

- Army Showcase: “Old School” Chaos Warriors. Matt Birdoff is one of the most prolific Warhammer players in the USA. He’s owned eight Chaos armies over the years, each a little whackier than the last, and this issue we showcase his latest weird and wonderful creations.

- HUGE Kings of War coverage. Included with the magazine is a copy of Mantic Games’s Kings of War, a brand new set of fantasy gaming rules that you can use with your existing miniatures. We also managed to land an interview with their CEO Ronnie Renton, get the Test Dummies to do a review of the rules, score two units of Undead Cavalry to give away, use their studio armies in a Dwarfs vs Undead battle report, and even use our patented Jedi Mind Tricks to convince them to let us give away an entire army!

Intrigued? As always you can check out a 10-page preview of the magazine HERE.
